About us

This interactive comic strip contributes to the Museum’s mission of bringing Joseph-Armand Bombardier’s legacy to life and inspire future generations.

It helps disseminate information resulting from unpublished research. Its purpose is to stand out from basic communication and present the perseverance of Joseph-Armand Bombardier (1907–1964), an illustrious French-Canadian inventor, as well as honour the work of this man involved in the Valcourt community and renowned entrepreneur who obtained 43 patents and developed an impressive array of specialized vehicles, for both snow and off-road transportation. The company he left to his successors has become a international transportation leader.

The Musée de l’ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier has a rich collection of archival documents and artifacts, which it wanted to showcase in an original way with this dynamic project telling the story of the development of a technical invention: the sprocket wheel-track system. For 10 years (1926–1936), Joseph-Armand Bombardier, an outstanding and persevering inventor, devoted himself relentlessly to the development of this technology, which revolutionized snow transportation and gave birth to an entire industry. On June 29, 1937, he received an affirmative answer from the Patent Office. He exulted: his efforts were finally recognized and all his dreams were now within reach!
